Arts and Humanities

The Planning Department is approved by the Tennessee Arts Commission (TAC) as a Designated Agency to award grant funds to local art agencies.  These funds consist of Arts Build Communities (ABC) grants.  The short-term objective of ABC grants is to create a decentralized decision-making and distribution process for certain State dollars.  A long-term objective is to build communities by nurturing artists, arts organizations (including local arts agencies), and arts supporter in each of Tennessee’s ninety-five counties.  For more information, please go to the Tennessee Arts Commission website at www.arts.state.tn.us.
