  Options State Program - Options is a home and community based program that provides in-home assistance to older consumers and other adults with disabilities.  To be eligible an applicant must be 18 years or older with a disability and is at risk of losing his or her independence. Upon meeting the criteria of the initial telephone screening performed by our Information and Assistance Specialist to determine eligibility, an in-home assessment is done and a care of plan developed.

Medicaid Waiver Program - Enrollees eligible for this program must meet the following requirements:

1)  Be a resident of the State of Tennessee

2)  Meet financial requirements to receive Medicaid as determined by the Department of Human Services;

3)  Have an approved Pre-Admission Evaluation (PAE) medical criteria for Level 1 nursing facility care;

4)  Be an adult over the age of 21

5)  Be able to receive services in the home at a cost less than that of institution care, and;

6)  Have a caregiver to assure the health and safety of the individual while receiving services in a home and community based setting.

National Family Caregiver - This program provides support to family caregivers of any age providing care for a family member 60 or older or a grandparent caring for a grandchild under the age of 18 with a developmental disability.  

Senior Medicare Patrol Project - This program is to reduce Medicare/Medicaid fraud, waste and abuse by increasing public awareness and monitoring what is paid on a beneficiary's behalf and how to report suspicious claims.  SMPP is a federal, state, and community partnership designed to maintain and sustain our current health care system.

State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) - A statewide  program that provides free and objective counseling and assistance to persons with questions or problems regarding Medicare and other related health insurances

Medication Management - This program is to provide assistance to elderly consumers to ensure that they are not mixing medications, whether prescriptions or across the counter, that may be harmful or addictive to them.

Title III Contracted Services - The AAAD continues to contract and monitor services provided with nine Offices on Aging/Senior Centers which serve as the focal point for information and services for elderly consumers.  These focal points are located in Camden, Huntingdon, Alamo, Dyersburg, Bradford, Paris, Tiptonville, Union City, and Dresden.  The AAAD also contracts with six free standing Senior Centers located in Humboldt, Milan, Ridgely, Reelfoot Rural Ministry, Martin, and Sharon.  Other contracts are with West TN Legal Services, Northwest Human Resource Agency Nutrition Program,  Transportation Program, and Ombudsman Program.

Public Guardianship - Services offered by the Public Guardianship Program are to persons 60 years of age or older who are not able to manage their own affairs.  The Guardianship Program is utilized only when there are no family members, friends, or organizations available to serve.  The Guardianship Program can serve as a court appointed conservator where staff can legally make decisions for the care and management of the person and/or property of the individual.  The Guardianship Program can also serve as durable power of attorney.

Senior Olympics - The Senior Olympic participants play in bowling, golf, field and track events, shuffleboard, swimming, tennis, basketball free-throw, and horseshoes.  Senior olympics are for persons 50 years of age or older and emphasizes the fact that you are never too old to start exercising.  There are seniors participating from the ages of 50 - 90.
